LEADERSHIP

 

David Segel
Founder | CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

Mr. Segel is an entrepreneur with a desire to have a constructive impact on culture through media. He has founded and funded several successful firms including The Mako Group, which is a global financial services business with expertise in trading products related to market volatility. He serves Mpower Pictures as a financier and a strategist. Mr. Segel is a graduate of Yale University.

 

STEVE MCEVEETY
FOUNDER | CEO

Mr. McEveety has Executive Producer and Producer credits for a number of the world’s most celebrated films, including THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, BRAVEHEART, WE WERE SOLDIERS, and others. He has over 25 years experience as a studio executive with ICON and other production companies. THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST is the most profitable film of 2004 and one of the most profitable films of all time. BRAVEHEART earned 5 Academy Awards including Best Picture.

TODD BURNS
FOUNDER

Mr. Burns has extensive experience in media, consumer products, talent management, real estate, and venture capital. Mr. Burns has represented high net worth individuals, celebrities and international companies in their media investments. Mr. Burns is chairman of a large international non-profit and sits on the boards of numerous local and national non-profits. He is currently a member of the the California Bar Association and the Producers Guild of America. He has a JD/MBA from Pepperdine University and a BA from UCLA.

Patrick Hibler
DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Patrick works as the Director of Development at Mpower. In this role, Patrick is actively involved in the development and production of the company’s feature films and documentaries.   

Patrick pursued his lifelong passion for film at Loyola Marymount University where he majored in film production. His short films have found festival success starting in 2007, with his first win and nomination at Columbia University Film Festival. Since then, he has produced, written, and directed a number of short films that have received either official selections or awards at a variety of international festivals. 

In 2014, he produced ENTERTAINMENT, directed by Rick Alverson with a cast that included John C. Riley, Michael Cera, and Tye Sheridan. The film was an official selection at Sundance Film Festival, to be released by Magnolia Pictures in 2015.

In 2015, he also co-produced the company’s feature MAN DOWN, directed by Dito Montiel with a cast that includes Shia Labeouf, Kate Mara, Jai Courtney and Gary Oldman. The film is slated to be released in the fall of 2015.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

JOHN SHEPHERD
FOUNDER | PRESIDENT

Mr. Shepherd has extensive experience in independent filmmaking as a producer and a studio executive. He manages development, financing and production for the company’s slate.

Shepherd has produced over 20 independent features, been a showrunner for a critically acclaimed web series and served as an executive in new media at DreamWorks.

Prior to co-founding Mpower Pictures, he produced such award-winning films as “The Ultimate Gift” and “Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius.”

He serves on the boards of several non-profits, is a member of SAG-AFTRA and the PGA.

Shepherd studied Radio Television and Film at Northwestern University, is a graduate of the UCLA.
